HLTAID011 Provide first aid

This is a basic, standard first aid course previously known as the old Senior First Aid.

We aim to develop skills and knowledge and confidence, to provide first aid treatment to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury. First Aid aims to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery. It includes initial intervention in a casualty with a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, such as performing CPR while waiting for an ambulance. You will also receive skills to treat and deal with less serious conditions, such as applying water for burns, or assisting someone choking.

Providing first aid requires practical training as well as instruction. especially with potentially fatal situations, such as those that require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or involve severe bleeding. These procedures can create further risks and hazards to both the casualty and the first aider. Practical training can provide a set of skills and procedures to minimise these risks

The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.
